Ben's Europe Trip Volume 5
Hallo,
That's hello in Dutch by the way, yes I'm learning so much here!
Moving on... since leaving beautiful Brugge Jess and I have spent the last three nights in the cosy Bicycle Hotel, about a 10 minute tram trip from the centre of Amsterdam - the European capital of sex, drugs and Anne Frank.
The lobby of the Hotel has free internet access, so seeing as I'm not shelling out any Dr Pepper money for this I'll try to make it a decent sized post.
So Amsterdam, Amsterdam..... It's not the most picturesque city to walk around - sure there's plenty of canals and the odd spectacular building, but Brugge had that, and alot more of it.
Anne Frank's house was pretty cool - I shamefully admit that I didn't know much about the girl, so walking around the different rooms I was simulteneously enlightened and depressed. It was an odd feeling.
Anyway other than that there's not much to tell. We perused the local markets, tried the local foods and bought the odd souvenir.
So unfortunately, whilst we've had a blast here and I recommend anyone give Amsterdam a tick on their European to do list - I don't have any more to say about our stay here for the moment.
Here's a list of everything I know how to say in Dutch, keep in mind we've been in countries that speak Dutch for almost two weeks - so you should be expecting an impressive list.
Hello - Hallo
Exit - Uitgang
Tonight - Vanavond
Tomorrow - Morgen
(The last two we learnt from the TV)
So off to Paris tomorrow, after a whole day on the train - we didn't reserve seats on the train early enough so we have to take a detour through Antwerp and change trains twice. Won't make that mistake again.
Love Ben (Jess says hallo)

Oh Ben, I know some Dutch. If only I thought to teach you before you went. I know how to say "You're dirty, go have a shower. Do you have a towel?" And such a handy phrase to know too...
